In Norse mythology, the Tree of Life—known as Yggdrasil—is a sacred, cosmic ash tree that connects the Nine Worlds and sustains all existence. It stands at the center of the universe, with its roots and branches linking gods, humans, and all realms of life. For the Norse people, trees also held deep symbolic and practical significance. When Vikings established new settlements, they sometimes left a central tree standing as a symbol of life, protection, and harmony with nature.
The Tree of Life represents the interconnectedness of all living beings, the bond between humanity and its ancestors, and the continual cycle of death and rebirth. It reminds us that all life is woven together and that from every ending comes a new beginning.
