A Danish nisse is a small, bearded household gnome from Danish folklore- often imagined as a tiny old man with a white beard and a red cap, living in barns, attics, or around farms and homes. The nisse acts as a guardian who protects the household and animals and may even help with chores, but it’s also mischievous and easily offended if ignored or disrespected.
